چکیده

We discuss a quantity discount problem between a seller (wholesaler) and a buyer (retailer). The seller purchases products from an upper-leveled supplier (manufacturer) and then sells them to the buyer who faces her/his customers’ demand. The seller attempts to increase her/his profit by controlling the buyer’s order quantity through a quantity discount strategy and the buyer tries to maximize her/his profit considering the seller’s proposal. In this study, we focus on the case where both the seller’s and the buyer’s inventory levels of the product are continuously depleting due to the combined effects of its demand and deterioration. The deterioration rate is assumed to be a constant fraction of the on-hand inventory. We formulate the above problem as a Stackelberg game between the seller and buyer to analyze the existence of the seller’s optimal quantity discount pricing policy which maximizes her/his total profit per unit of time. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate the theoretical underpinnings of the proposed model.

Optimal pricing and replenishment policies for instantaneous deteriorating items with backlogging and trade credit under inflation

In this paper we develop an economic order quantity model to investigate the optimal replenishment policies for instantaneous deteriorating items under inflation and trade credit. Demand rate is a linear function of selling price and decreases negative exponentially with time over a finite planning horizon. Shortages are allowed and partially backlogged. Under these conditions, we model the ret...

An optimal policy for deteriorating items with time-proportional deterioration rate and constant and time-dependent linear demand rate

In this paper, an economic order quantity (EOQ) inventory model for a deteriorating item is developed with the following characteristics: (i) The demand rate is deterministic and two-staged, i.e., it is constant in first part of the cycle and linear function of time in the second part. (ii) Deterioration rate is time-proportional. (iii) Shortages are not allowed to occur. The o...

An EOQ model for non-instantaneous deteriorating items with two levels of storage under trade credit policy

A deterministic inventory model with two levels of storage (own warehouse and rented warehouse) with non-instantaneous deteriorating items is studied. The supplier offers the retailer a trade credit period to settle the amount. Different scenarios based on the deterioration and the trade credit period have been considered. In this article, we have framed two models considering single warehouse ...

Optimal Order Policy for Deteriorating Items with Time-Dependent Demand in Response to Temporary Price Discount Linked to Order Quantity

This paper presents the possible effects of a temporary price discount offered by a supplier on a retailer’s replenishment policy for deteriorating items with linear time dependent demand rate. The optimal ordered quantity of a special order policy for a selected case is obtained by maximizing the total cost saving between special and regular orders for the duration of the depletion time. An al...
